    A Center of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic hub designed to strengthen academic reputation, enhance the quality of research and publications, and build capacity through structured training programs. At the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Riau (FEB UIR), the CoE serves as a catalyst for fostering a culture of high-quality research, professional publications, and impactful training initiatives. By consolidating expertise, resources, and networks, the CoE supports both national and international academic engagements.

    The CoE’s role extends beyond academic functions, serving as a key driver in achieving accreditation targets, advancing journal indexing, and contributing to sustainable economic development. Its orientation is aligned with addressing global challenges such as sustainability, digitalization, and inclusive economic growth, rooted in the values of Islam and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To realize this vision, the CoE at FEB UIR has established five key missions:

3. To provide professional training and capacity-building programs for students, faculty members, and industry practitioners.

Organizational Structure and Roles

The organizational structure of the CoE at FEB UIR is composed of:

·       Director: Responsible for strategic leadership, vision formulation, program coordination, and representation in institutional, national, and international collaborations.

·       Deputy Director: Assists the director in operational management, ensures synergy across divisions, and acts as the interim director when needed.

·       Research Division: Oversees research activities, facilitates funding, organizes methodology workshops, and supports data analysis.

·       Publication Division: Manages affiliated journals, supports editorial processes, facilitates indexing and accreditation, and provides training for authors, editors, and reviewers.

·       Training Division: Designs and implements capacity-building programs, identifies participant needs, develops modules, and engages industry experts.

·       Administrator: Manages administrative, logistical, financial, and technical support functions, including assistance with journal publications.


Flagship Programs

Each division of the CoE carries out flagship programs to advance its objectives:

·       Research Division: Competitive research proposal workshops, collaborative research programs, postgraduate thesis coaching, grant facilitation, monthly research forums, methodology bootcamps, and data analysis support.

·       Publication Division: Journal management and accreditation, national and international conferences, scientific writing workshops, manuscript submission clinics, citation and reference management training (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley), publication mentoring, and journal incubation programs.

·       Training Division: Pedagogical training, curriculum development, microteaching refreshers, student soft skills training (communication, leadership, teamwork), digital tools workshops (Excel, SPSS, SmartPLS, Power BI), short professional certifications (Islamic finance, entrepreneurship, business analytics), guest lectures from industry experts, professional writing workshops, and community engagement training programs.
